Mary Pohlen brings 32 years of teaching experience to St. Joseph School families. With 15 years teaching kindergarten at St. Joseph School, 13 years teaching Second Grade, and now in her first year teaching Fourth Grade, Mrs. Pohlen brings the same love, attention and dedication to all of her students at every learning stage. Mrs. Pohlen holds a bachelors degree in Education and receives ongoing continuing education and training in the latest reading, writing and math teaching and learning techniques. Mrs. Pohlen is trained in School Community Intervention and Prevention (SCIP); Nebraska Reading First; the DIBELS Reading Assessment System; Discipline with a Purpose; the nationally recognized Boys Town Education Model, a premier school-based approach that focuses on managing behavior, building relationships and teaching social skills; and Blackboard and Smartboard educational technology. Mrs. Pohlen is a member of the SCIP, discipline and social committees at St. Joseph School and volunteers for the votive candle ministry, greeter ministry, and SCRIP sales at St. Joseph Church.
