Mary Pohlen brings over 30 years of teaching experience to St. Joseph School families. With 15 years teaching kindergarten at St. Joseph School, 12 years teaching Second Grade, and now more than 3 years teaching Fourth Grade, Mrs. Pohlen brings the same love, attention and dedication to all of her students at every learning stage. Mrs. Pohlen holds a bachelors degree in Education and receives ongoing continuing education and training in the latest reading, writing and math teaching and learning techniques. Mrs. Pohlen is trained in School Community Intervention and Prevention (SCIP); Nebraska Reading First; the DIBELS Reading Assessment System; Discipline with a Purpose; the nationally recognized Boys Town Education Model, a premier school-based approach that focuses on managing behavior, building relationships and teaching social skills; and Smartboard as well as PowerSchool Learning technology. Mrs. Pohlen is a member of the SCIP and St. Joseph Feast Day committees as well as being a mentor for teachers new to our school. She is a volunteer for our Parish SCRIP program, a member of an Endow group, and ejoys spending time with her family!
