"An atmosphere of Christian joy and academic excellence" was the goal established for St. Joseph School when it opened its doors on August 24, 1979, with 65 students in kindergarten through third grade. Blessed with the leadership of St. Joseph Church Pastor, Msgr. Thomas Holoman, the first principal, Sister Joseph Fidelis, IHM, and other Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary from Immaculata, Pennsylvania, and strong parishioner support, an additional grade was added each year until the present kindergarten through eighth grade was established on August 23, 1984. A preschool program began in 1986.
The IHM Sisters remained at St. Joseph's for ten years, after which time the School Sisters of Christ the King, a diocesan congregation dedicated to the teaching apostolate, continued their work.
