Joyce Gibney brings 21 years of teaching experience to St. Joseph School. She received her B.S. from Iowa State University. She previously taught at the High School level in Iowa before coming to St. Joseph.In 1994, Mrs. Gibney’s first position was teaching the new Enrichment program, “The Quest Room” for St. Joseph School. One of Mrs. Gibney’s favorite enjoyments is bringing the characters to life when she reads to her students. Her love of reading and history often combine for thought-provoking lessons. In June, 2011, she completed a week long Holocaust Education and Social Justice Seminar. This was sponsored by the Holocaust Educators Network/Memorial Library and the Nebraska Writing Project. She devotes much of her time to the nationally recognized Books and Beyond Reading program and assists in the annual St. Joseph Book Fair. Mrs. Gibney is trained in the Boys Town Education Model, Smartboard and Blackboard Technology.
